Doodlebug enthusiasts from all over the world will come to Webster City in mid-September to celebrate the 73rd year of the famed Doodlebug scooter. But in between a group ride and museum visit, a new and quite unique event will be held this year — a Doodlebug quilting workshop.
The workshop, sponsored by Legacy Learning – Boone River Valley, will allow participants to create the first ever “Doodlebug Quilt.”
Instructor, Sharon Cline, will provide a preprinted Doodlebug panel for each 12-inch quilt block, or she says, participants can design their own. Cline says the quilt block will combine traditional piecing and paper piecing to create this one-of-a-kind Doodlebug Hiawatha replica, which is suitable for framing or for a pillow top
Cline said the one-of-a-kind Doodlebug pattern will be available for sale, but will also be provided to all who participate in the workshop.
The Doodlebug quilting workshop will be held Sept. 11-12 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Webster City AmericInn conference room. The cost to participate is $90, but an early bird discount is available through Aug. 21.
